Join our hike leaders for a guided walk through the Conservation Area. Two routes will be available, a 2.5 km walk through the forest along the River Trail and a shorter walk through the meadows. The short route will be suitable for younger children. Our hike leaders will be providing facts and stories about bats, fireflies and other night time creatures. They will also be highlighting some of the simple nature apps that can be used to monitor local wildlife and to identify birds and plants.
Following the hikes, visitors are invited to stay for a campfire with marshmallows, hot dogs and lots of lemonade. At the campfire we’ll be doing some calling to see if the screech owls and great horned owls will respond.
Please dress for weather conditions and bring a flashlight. Insect repellent is recommended.
This is a FREE event, donations for refreshments gratefully accepted. The Nature Centre is located at 38854 Nature Centre Rd., south of Belgrave, north of Blyth and west of County Rd. 4 (London Rd.).
