Fall Colour Tour – Oct. 6th
We’re in the midst of preparing for the annual Fall Colour Tour. This year’s event is on Sunday October 6th from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm. Once again the Fall Colour Tour is being held at Wawanosh Valley Conservation Area.
Join us for wagon rides through the property and a cup of hot apple cider. The Brussel Leo Club will have hot dogs available.
Doug Hocking, Water Quality Specialist, will be available to answer questions about the Huron Clean Water Project and our tree planting programs.
Stop by and chat with representatives from the Maitland Conservation Foundation and find out about their current campaigns and activities.
There’ll be amazing stream insects on display and we’ll set out lots of rubber boots so come and catch some crayfish with us. Have you got a question about water quality in the Maitland and Nine Mile River watersheds? Mat Shetler, Watershed Information Technician, will be pleased to talk with you about trends in water quality and what’s happening with stream health in your local area.
We believe in hands-on outdoor experiences so children are invited to visit the exploring centre and take a close up look at a variety of nature items including mammal skulls, owl pellets and beaver chews.
Be sure to quiz the staff on why tree leaves change colours in the fall!
Wawanosh Valley is located at 38854 Nature Centre Rd., North Huron – that’s west of London Rd., south of Belgrave and north of Blyth.
