Tour of the Scott and Lobb Farms (tentative)

  • 10:00 am to noon - tour of soil and water projects recently completed at the Scott Farm The farm is located at 39298 Nature Centre Rd., Township of North Huron

  • In the afternoon a tour of the Lobb Farm, west of Clinton, has been tentatively scheduled. This tour will highlight projects undertaken approximately 20 years ago on the Lobb property.

Over the past several years Murray and Wilma Scott have implemented a variety of soil and water conservation projects on their farm. Some of the projects completed to date include:

  • natural channel design
  • constructed wetlands
  • stormwater management
  • diversion berms and grasses waterways
  • installation of nitrate filers
  • improved woodlot management

The Scott's have developed a Soil and Water Environmental Enhancement Plan for their farm. The plan examines the entire property and focuses on actions that will improve soil and water health. One goal of the plan is to increase the resiliency of the land to changing weather patterns.

The Lobb Farm provides an opportunity to view mature soil and water conservation initiatives including reforestation, windbreaks and erosion control measures.
