Shoreline Mapping and Presentation
September 2nd 2010

New shoreline mapping outlining the updated 100 year erosion line is now available. This line replaces the 1983 100 year erosion line. The maps also show:

  • dynamic beach line
  • 100 year flood line
  • wave uprush line.

These maps are available in the Community Projects area of this website in Shoreline Working Group documents. Go to the key maps first to determine the map number that corresponds to your property. The maps are sorted by municipality. Please note that the files are in .pdf format and in an effort to keep the file size manageable the resolution has been reduced. If you would like a large, high resolution print out of a map please contact Jeffrey King, GIS Technician, at jking@mvca.on.ca .

The Shoreline Working Group hosted a public information meeting in 2009. At this meeting the updated shoreline mapping was on display and presentations were given on:

  • coastal processes
  • mapping methodology
  • impact of climate change on the shoreline
  • shoreline regulations

The presentation given by Brian Luinstra, Luinstra Earth Sciences, is available in .pdf format. For more information please contact the MVCA at maitland@mvca.on.ca or 519 335-3557.
