Brussels Conservation Area
Brussels Conservation Area is a day use area with a small reservoir and picnic facilities. This property is also the site of the historic Logan Mill. A flour and gristmill was first built on this site in 1859 by William and James Vanstone. Fire destroyed this structure as well as another mill subsequently built on the site. John Logan built the Logan Mill and put a cement cap on the dam in 1914-1915.
Recently the Brussels Optimist Club has been instrumental in upgrading the facilities at this Conservation Area. The Optimists, with assistance from the Trillium Foundation, have funded the construction of new a washroom facility as well as upgrades to the picnic area and walking trails. There is also playground equipment at the site. The MVCA greatly appreciates the efforts of the Brussels Optimist Club.
