Education Programs - Wawanosh Nature Centre
Wawanosh Nature Centre
The Wawanosh Nature Centre is a magical learning environment that provides teachers and group leaders with the opportunity to complement classroom learning with hands-on, outdoor experiences.
The property contains a diversity of natural habitats making it an ideal setting for education and recreation activities. Both the Maitland River and the Belgrave Creek flow through the Conservation Area. The site also contains small wetlands, cedar lowlands, mature plantations, old meadows and a deciduous woodlot.
Facilities at the site include two classrooms, indoor washrooms and a picnic area. A campfire area is also available. The property contains an extensive trail system. The Nature Centre building is wheelchair accessible as is a short boardwalk to the Belgrave Creek. Please contact education staff to discuss programming for visitors with mobility difficulties.
Programs are available for classes ranging from kindergarten to grade 12. All the activities at Wawanosh are flexible and can be modified to meet specific group interests or needs.
