Harriston Floodplain Mapping – Public Information Centre
Proposed Changes to Harriston Floodplain
The floodplain mapping for Harriston was last updated in 1999. The need for updated mapping was recognized by both the Town of Minto and Maitland Conservation staff. In 2015, Maitland Conservation began a three-year intensive data collection program so new floodplain mapping for Harriston could be created.
The proposed floodplain mapping will be presented at a Public Information Centre on November 27, 2018 at the Harriston Community Centre Auditorium (located at 111 George St. S) starting at 6:30 pm.
Should you have any questions or concerns regarding the proposed floodplain mapping please contact:
Patrick Huber-Kidby, Planning and Regulations Assistant
519-335-3557 ext. 240
Alternatively, you may provide verbal comments at the meeting of Maitland Conservation’s Board on
January 23, 2019. Please notify Patrick Huber-Kidby prior to January 14, 2019 if you intend to provide
comments at the January 23, 2019 meeting.
Reducing the Impacts of Flooding
In addition to reviewing the new floodplain mapping at the Public Information Centre, staff will also provide information on a variety of scenarios that have been proposed to reduce the impacts of flooding in the area.
